As English teachers enjoy a well earned rest and recharge the batteries ready for the challenges of the new academic year, here at Teacher-of-English.com we've been beavering away on a host of new resources to help take some of the sting out of September.
Brand new this week are two resources for widely used GCSE texts, Our Day Out (Willy Russell) and Of Mice and Men (John Steinbeck).
These two new resources signify something of a change in how our materials are presented. Each resource comes as a package which includes three items: a PowerPoint, an 'English 2010 Ready' medium term plan and a series of photocopy friendly worksheets. I would love to know what English teachers think about the idea of offering resources as a package, if you have a comment, please let us know.
Regarding the new 2010 English curriculum, we are currently updating existing resources and creating new ones which will ensure that from the start of 2010 anything you download from the site will fit into the new framework.
We hope you will find our new resources a great help in the classroom. Our Day Out includes a 100 slide differentiated PowerPoint, a Reading APP for use at KS3, an essay plan for GCSE Literature, a booklet of photocopy friendly worksheets in PDF format and a medium term English 2010 ready plan. Whilst Our Day Out and Of Mice and Men are available to download now, we are currently working on cluster 2 of the Poems from different Cultures, starting with Search For My Tongue, so expect to see that popping up on the site in the coming week.

GCSE English Resources 2
School holidays - whey-hey!
As the 6 weeks holidays get underway there's no time for a breather here at http://www.teacher-of-english.com/ .
Already we have a new KS3 English resource ready for September 09: An Introduction to Drama Texts whilst an new PowerPoint for Our Day Out by Willy Russell is ready to be published this week. Once the Our Day Out Scheme of Work (complete with Reading APP for KS3 and essay title and plan for GCSE) is on the site we will turn our attention to Of Mice and Men before moving onto Blood Brothers and Poems from different cultures cluster 2 and adding a few more key skills English resources. This means that by the start of the new term we should have an additional 1000 PowerPoint pages on the website, all designed to help English teachers in the classroom.
Well, time is limited so I'd better stop blogging and get on with these new resources, as my mum used to say about the washing up, it won't do itself!

GCSE English Resources 2010
GCSE English resources can be found at http://www.teacher-of-english.com/ which will be available throughout the summer holidays.
As we approach the final week of term we find schools continue to sign up for membership to get ready for September. As the holidays near we still find lots of activity. What Were They Like? and Stone Cold lead the way with the remaining poems from other cultures such as Limbo not far behind.
Over the hols work gets underway on new resources. We hope to bring Of Mice and Men, Blood Brothers and An Inspector Calls to the site as well as the other cluster of Poems from different cultures and some more key skills resources for spelling, punctation and grammar.
