This great little resource is designed to help (especially male) learners develop skimming and scanning skills.  The 30 slide PowerPoint presentation uses road signs from the British Highway Code to help learners develop key reading skills.  The road signs are downloadable as printable worksheets for learners to use.  Students have to use skimming and scanning skills and produce a short piece of writing about the meanings of the road signs from the highway codeThe resource's content has been designed to help reluctant boys engage with key literacy skills.
This excellent little resource can be used when working on Non-fiction texts and general reading and literacy skills at KS3.
